Had I another
head
to sit on my shoulders
and keep this one company,
I should think I would speak
more softly,
and with more ease.

For before my lips
were filled with words,
my ears
would have been filled
with advice,
for they would have heard
more than just one thing.

Too often,
I speak as if
the conversation had been
going on for some time.
Yet,
our meeting has only just begun.

And my poor,
lonely set of ears,
have heard only the answers
you already gave
to questions
not even aired.

Had I another head,
to sit on my shoulders
and keep this one company - 
I think,
I think the world
would be a little
easier,
for me.
