The
"love and words" blog is distributed on over 14 sites and has
approximately 35,000 readers per month. At first, I did not allow
comments to be posted and chose to reply to comments in blog posts or
answered them with emails.
As
the creator of a public blog, I have a responsibility for its content
and was learning how to moderate without undue censoring.
After
over a year of blogging, I have learned a great deal. One of the
things I learned is that someone on one site may be talking about
something that someone on another site would be very interested in
reading but chances of them leaving their communities was small. We
tend not to participate in a global internet community but to recreate
our own small worlds online with only slight variations.
And
so was born "the little flower". On five of the sites that host my
blog - myspace, curve, cultvault, bravenet and blogger - I have created
an alternate profile called "the little flower". With this profile I
can copy and cross post comments from other sites to that one.
So if you see the flower, you know the words that follow are from someone from somewhere else, thinking along the same lines.
